CRJU 231 Week 5 Post Response

I need to respond to this in 300-400 words in A.P.A. format with at least 2 references

While there has been a big push in society to be excepting of disjointed and untraditional families, this has caused an impact in delinquency and other negative effects in the lives of many youths,

Social science confirms the importance of marriage for children. According to the best available sociological evidence, children fare best on virtually every examined indicator when reared by their wedded biological parents (Anderson, 2013).

When looking at delinquency and how dysfunction in an individual’s life will affect that, I am definitely with some of the older studies that point to how family dysfunction, such as single-parent homes, quality of life, and rejection, has a clear impact on youth (Bartollas, Schmalleger, & Turner, 2019). From a psychological perspective alone, it is near impossible that even the mentally strongest person will still struggle in a dysfunctional environment. Psychologist Erik Erikson and he proposed a theory that had to do with different stages of one life and how their personality is developed by stages that can be viewed as forks in one’s life road, “These forks represent turning points in personality development. He called these points crises” (Burger, 2015, p. 106). Depending on the crises and how we dealt with them, our life direction would change. This applies to youth too: if not emotionally (or physically) support and can make the difference between if a child becomes delinquent or not. Said in another way, King David writes in Psalms 133:1, “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” (English Standard Version [ESV]). Without unity and peace, many parts of one’s life will quickly fall into disrepair.
