Theran Volcanic Discussion Post

- After watching the Did You Know video in the ARTmap, do you agree with the value most scholars place on ancient cataclysmic events like the Theran Eruption? The objects preserved by the eruption would most likely not be present today, yet thousands of people died because of the explosion. Explain your answer.

I do agree with the value most scholars place on catclysmic events. Such events have a huge impact on the surrounding landscape and I don’t doubt that the events could also impact the weather patterns. In the case of the Theran eruption, the lava buried the structures containing the art and provided a sort of vault that allowed the art to be preserved for much longer than it should have lasted.
