Richard Rodriguez separates “heritage” very clearly away from his personal identity.He said that “when I hear the word ‘heritage’, I think of ‘them’, family, tribe, traditions”. Would you say that this is perhaps due to the fact that his community identity related to his tribe and his culture is different from, if not in conflict with, his relational identity as a journalist and writer, who uses English as appose to Spanish most of the time? Why or why not?
